Back in Quonnie in 2025
Swimming to Picnic Rock has been an adventure we’ve pondered for years. This year, with Adrienne fit after triathlon training, and Dad motivated by a newly restored shoulder, we went for it. It was a grand adventure, and a wonderful swim. It’s really nice having a SUP available for support & supplies (and video).
On our first trip out to the pond, we agreed to circle Bill’s Island. Conrad spotted a collection of rocks that he wanted to investigate. We dubbed it “bird island” after its main inhabitants. It was a great place to collect shells.
For our second paddle outing on the pond, everyone wanted to back to visit bird island to bolster their shell collections. It was a foggy day, and hard for some, but a good trip all the same.
After the first week of very humid and warm weather, things turned cooler following a storm. We had clear water, perfect temperatures, and calm waves at low tide.

Back on Quonnie Pond
We take our first canoe flotilla out onto Quonnie Pond. Crabs are captured and bravely held.
Jones Beach Reprise
The full Jones clan makes it back to the beach including McNees, Wills, and Karen! Featuring Karen’s legendary under water somersault, swimming by all, sandcastles, and lots of sun.
